VACANCY – Trainee Setter

Trainee Setter role at our Sedgefield site, working a 24/7 shift pattern on a 3 on 3 off basis alternating days and nights.  Due to the specific skill requirement, intensive in-house training will be given to successful candidates, as part of a full training programme.  Proven experience in injection molding is an advantage but other setter/technician skills will be considered. 

Main Purpose: Reporting to Shift Manager. Trainee Setter is responsible for running and  machines. They will run efficiently and within quality guidelines producing product to the correct customer requirements and BRC quality standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Working in accordance with the company’s BRC Certification, Health & Safety policy and good manufacturing practice.
  2. To develop knowledge and skills to assist under supervision with product changeovers, setups and run established tooling to the manufacturing specification, particularly within the production time targets.
  3. To develop knowledge and skills to diagnose and correct running faults in a timely manner.
  4. Effectively communicate progress and any issues that arise with the Shift Manager.
  5. To assist under supervision with the removal of skeletal waste from the back end of the machine, following the SOP.
  6. Complete the required information on the IT system/job pack sheet, fully and accurately, especially the recording of downtime and the reasons.
  7. To develop the knowledge and skill to maintain and improve machine efficiencies (ensuring index size is run on its minimum and machine runs maximum cycle time for product). As well as constantly improving roll change times.
  8. To develop knowledge and skill to identify tool prep requirements and communicate these and any defects to tooling technicians via the tooling check sheet.
  9. Under supervision ensure machines are maintained at the highest hygiene level possible.
  10. Under supervision gain knowledge and experience in controlling the process to maximise output but minimise scrap (use set up rolls wherever possible)
  11. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  12. Take an active part in any training and development programmes.
  13. To comply with all Hygiene regulations stipulated within the BRC procedures.

The successful candidate should have the:

  • Good verbal communication and listening skills, all communication both written and verbal must be in English.
  • Ability to use to work as an individual or as part of a team unsupervised.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment for data purposes.
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Able to make decisions based on experience, have confidence to act and make changes within given boundaries.
  • Good personal organisation under pressure from time, internal and external customers.
  • Time management skills.
  • A flexible approach to work

 

Rate of Pay:                   Rate depending upon level of experience

£11.44 rising to £14.62 after training

 

This is an hourly/weekly paid role however monthly paid is an option.  Overtime is paid at 1.25 rate.

 

Hours of work:  
Alternating 7am – 19.00pm and 19.00pm – 7am on a 3 on 3 off 12 hour shift pattern

Holidays:
24 days inclusive bank holidays
