Central are proud to have been part of Sport Newcastle’s 45th Annual Awards Dinner at Newcastle Civic Centre. An evening to celebrate the very best of sporting achievements from around our region, and the rising sports stars of the future.
Sport Newcastle is a voluntary organisation, established in 1968 to promote and develop sport in Newcastle and the surrounding areas. The charity supports over 40 different sports and provides grants, awards, and scholarships to talented athletes, coaches, and clubs.
Supporting grass roots sports and helping the sporting dreams of young people, sports clubs and organisations, Sport Newcastle is the City’s oldest and most inclusive sports charity. The annual award ceremony recognises the success across all sports and also focuses on the young Rising Stars of sport.
Mike Booth, Sport Newcastle, Vice Chair, said, “Our Rising Stars, representing eleven different sports, are already performing at an exceptionally high standard. All compete nationally and several have represented their country at world level. Sport Newcastle are proud to be able to support these talented young athletes at the early stage of their sporting career.
“Our major award winners reflect the region’s success, achieved across a diverse range of female and male sports. With the on-going support of the local business community this augurs well for the future”.
The awards evening was supported by headline sponsors Tier One Capital and S.O.S. Group. Central were proud to sponsor an award at the event, along with other award sponsors including Ward Hadaway and Redgate Lodge Motor Group. Directors William Palmer and Steve Hart were in attendance to represent the company, and were honoured to present the Wilkinson Sword, Lifetime Achievement Award to Rugby Union star, Sarah Hunter CBE.
Director William Palmer said “It was an absolute honour to present Sarah with the Lifetime Achievement Award. It recognises the dedication, perseverance, and achievements Sarah has made in her sport, and also to the local sports community. We were privileged to be a part of such an inspiring moment and to celebrate her remarkable achievements”.
