Central Employment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Officer to join our client. As the SHE Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability. This full-time position requires coverage from Monday to Friday. Initially, the role will predominantly operate from their North East site in Sedgefield, with eventual plans for a balance between Sedgefield and the Keighley site in West Yorkshire
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold a safe workplace environment by ensuring strict adherence to health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Meet statutory obligations related to health, safety, environment, and welfare at work.
- Conduct and review risk assessments for work equipment and operations, implementing improvements based on investigations of accidents.
- Organise safety inspections, fire drills, and manage lone working procedures.
- Update and revise health and safety policies and procedures in line with legislative changes to maintain compliance.
- Manage training records and organise necessary health and safety training sessions.
- Implement and manage documented health and safety inspections, audits, and checks to identify and mitigate risks.
- Liaise with external training consultants when necessary for required training provisions.
- Chair health and safety meetings, ensuring effective communication of minutes and action points to relevant stakeholders.
- Stay updated on legislative changes and communicate relevant policy updates to the board to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Clear communicator both written and verbal with the ability to respond to changing priorities.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and investigative skills.
- Flexibility in approach to work and a proactive interest in legal regulations.
- Proficiency in IT.
